Poetry and prose, reason and affect, argument and image all stirred me deeply as I listened to this first of what I hope will be many more posts. I look forward to sharing with my early childhood colleagues and friends -- parents, grandparents and all those concerned with the next generation. The message is clear: we must love the world, and communicate that love to the young, even as we rage against injustice and mourn the losses that mark all our lives.

Wow. I read it and listened to it, your voice sounding reassuring and strong. I often worry about the world that my grandson will be inheriting. Thank you for helping me be tender and brave in your hopefulness.
